Infrastructure Management and Monitoring Services

Our Infrastructure Management and Monitoring Services (IMMS) combines our proven technical capabilities on HP data centre technology and VMware with dedicated operational support. IMMS is delivered to a bespoke contracted service level that is designed to meet your response time requirements.

IMMS is designed to maintain the stability, availability and operational effectiveness of your IT environment, whilst giving your IT staff the flexibility to focus on more value-add tasks.

What is IMMS?

We offer two levels of IMMS: Proactive and Reactive.

Proactive IMMS:

  • Helps keep core systems healthy and available. Examples include remote monitoring, health checks, version control services and qualitative analysis of vendor advisories and support statements.
  • Ensures systems perform and scale effectively. This incorporates capacity planning, provisioning and expansion; performance monitoring and optimisation; and programme-managed updates and upgrades.

Reactive IMMS:

  • Helps return core systems to a steady state in the shortest possible time and with the minimum material impact in the event of a failure. Examples include 24x7 Emergency Cover with First and Second Line operational assistance in fault finding, issue resolution, vendor liaison and escalation management.
  • Provides cover for less critical issues where peer review is required. Examples include change management and documentation.

Is IMMS a Managed Service?

Richardson Eyres realise that a complete managed service does not always fit with the culture or operational demands of a business. So unlike a fully managed service, Richardson Eyres IMMS provides hands-on assistance where it is needed. That is why each contract is bespoke, and provides a flexible service overlay that fits your business and the skill sets of the IT staff it assists.

IMMS is somewhere between a managed service and pure self service. Most IMMS customers own their own equipment, and have full control of the applications which reside on the infrastructure.

What if I only want to pay for what I use?

Richardson Eyres can acquire systems on a customer's behalf and provide self-service portals for full, secure provisioning under VMware.

IMMS provides First and Second Line Support. Do I still need a vendor support contract?

Reactive IMMS is not a replacement for a vendor's break/fix contract. It is supplementary and intended to assist a systems administrator or infrastructure manager with fault finding, issue resolution, vendor liaison and execution management for your infrastructure.

What parts of the infrastructure does IMMS cover?

IMMS from Richardson Eyres covers HP Storage, HP BladeSystem and HP Networking.

What if we need to upgrade the environment? How does that work under IMMS?

Part of the Proactive IMMS service is capacity planning. Regular reports and service review meetings will highlight the need to provision additional infrastructure should the need arise. Richardson Eyres would programme manage this update by providing the spec, sourcing the kit and negotiating best price with the vendor, then delivering, testing and installing the equipment. This is generally provided as a best-effort exercise, though it can provided under a contracted SLA should you wish.
